Natural Gas Pipes
Natural Gas Piping, Leak location, Repair, and Installation
Natural gas supplied to your home has additives added for smell for an obvious reason. It’s a warning that your system has a leak and needs attention now. Call the gas company as soon as possible. They will repair if the leak is on their side of meter or inform you to call Levy and Son for fast friendly professional service. A plumber will perform an air test to determine where or what is leaking plus determine if it is a simple fix, piping repairs needed or line replacement required. The yard line is separated from house to test independently. Houses with steel underground lines generally require replacement since the repair of an old rusting line will be a waste of time.
A gas relay is recommended when the yard line from the meter to the house has been properly tested and does not hold a required pressure test. The methods for digging a gas relay are by use of a walk behind trencher or hand digging. In some cases trenchless digging can also be used. The new gas line installed will be properly sized to supply your home with plenty of gas pressure for all your appliances to function at their highest efficiency. A city permit and inspection is required on all gas relay installations.
Levy and Son can install properly sized natural gas supply piping to any gas appliance, outdoor grill, cook top, range, barbeque grill, furnace, water heater, generator or other equipment that require gas. Piping materials installed will be the best quality and best suited for the project. All natural gas piping projects will be city permitted and inspected.
Is the gas piping from the gas meter to your home made of steel? Over time, contaminants deteriorate this steel line and the piping walls become thin and threaded joints begin to leak, which can be dangerous. Let us install a new polyethylene gas line that will not be affected by soil contaminants. Peace of mind will also be a valued benefit knowing you have eliminated a potential disaster.
